Concord survived some costly turnovers to defeat Parkwood 30-19 Friday night at the Rebel's Homecoming.
Concord took the opening kickoff and drove down the field propeled by a 24 yard run by fullback Mike Moore on the first play from scrimage. Matt Beecher fell on a fumble in the endzone for a Spider touchdown.
After a Parkwood punt the Spiders rolled down the field and into scoring position only to fumble near the Rebel goalline.
Parkwood's lone offsensive TD came on a 66 yard touchdown pass from QB Josh Bolick to TB Justin Funderburk.

The Spiders defense kept them in a mistake-filled contest Friday night at NW Cabarrus. The Trojans opened the scoring with a quick strike in the 3rd quarter, then added a field goal to jump to a 9-0 lead. The Spiders answered with a Lance Lewis touchdown run around left end to make it 9-6 (extra point failed). Concord attempted a fake punt with around 4 minutes to go and failed. The turnover on downs set up the Trojans last score for the final tally of 16-6.
Concord hosted arch-rival A.L. Brown Thursday night in the 87th meeting between the neighboring schools. Brown kept the Victory Bell with a 31-19 win.
The Brown defense kept Concord's offense in check for much of the night. The Wonders held the Spiders to -33 rushing yards and produced 4 turnovers. The Wonders scored on three of the four Spider giveaways.
Brown took an early lead when Cordarious Butler found Lewis Harris for a 6 yard touchdown pass.

The Spider found a spark in the second quarter, Senior tailback P.J. Hall took a short screen pass and bolted down the Wonder sideline to tie the score at 7 a piece.
On the ensuing Wonder drive Ja'Nai Spratt scopped up a fumble and rambled 37 yards for a touchdown. Wonder quaterback Cordarious Butler was injured trying to corral the fumble. We wish him a speedy recovery.
However the Spiders momentum was short lived. The Spiders would turn the ball over twice deep in their own territory, both leading to Wonder touchdowns.
Brown enjoyed a 21-13 halftime advantage.
The defenses controlled the 3rd quarter.
Early in the 4th Wonder kicker Brian Guttierez booted a 26 yard field goal to put the Wonders up 24-13.
Justin Nicholson kept the Spiders in the game with a spectacular 83 yard punt return touchdown with 7:34 left in the contest.
Down 24-19 the Spider defense provided a key stop giving the offense one last chance to take the lead. Wonder defender Steven Howie erased any thoughts of a comeback by picking off a Spider pass and returning it for a touchdown with 1:18 left.
Hamsah Nasirildeen had a monster night, closing with 16 tackles. The Spider D held the Wonders to around 225 yards of total offense. The turnovers were too much to overcome.
The Spider offense struggled at times but there were bright spots.

The practice field at Concord High School took on a Hollywood feel after Monday's practice. Host Shannon Wiseman and the crew of TV's Nascar Angels were on hand to present Coach Leland Peacock with his newly refurbished car.
Coach Peacock was selected for the show which takes cars from deserving individuals then local Goodyear shops and other partners complete needed repairs. The crew interviewed Coach Peacock, other Coaches, and several Spider players.
Look for the show to air the weekend of November 18. Nascar Angels is seen in the Concord area on WAXN and WSOC. Click here for local listings of Nascar Angels.

The Spiders traveled to Anson Friday night and dismantled the host Beatcats 46-20.
Concord jumped out to a big lead quickly and never looked back. QB Dee Bost had another stellar night going 22-32 for 336 yards and 2 touchdowns. TB Roger Smith also added another touchdown pass and three rushing touchdowns. Complementing Bost was a strong performance by Concord's receiving corps of Lance Lewis, Jimmy Drye, Dustin Burris, and Matt Beecher. Beecher recorded two touchdowns on the night, Burris added the other.
Concord's defense turned in another strong effort. QB/DB Dee Bost made an acrobatic interception. Antwan Haynie and Matt Beecher both recovered fumbles for the Spiders. Defensive end Delano Johnson batted down three pass attempts. Nathaniel Sedergren added Concord's lone sack.

The Spiders cruised to a 49-6 victory over Sun Valley Saturday night at Robert C. Bailey Stadium.
Concord took the opening kickoff and immediately marched down the field. QB Dee Bost found WR Lance Lewis for a 12 yard touchdown pass. Sun Valley drove deep into Spider territory on the ensuing drive but Dee Bost recovered a Spartan fumble to stop the drive.
The Spiders took command in the 2nd quarter. Bost again hit Lance Lewis this time on a 70 yard touchdown connection. Sun Valley turned the ball over again as Matt Josey recovered for the Spiders. Concord continued the aerial attack as Bost found WR Jimmy Drye for another touchdown.
